Inspired by French and Italian models, the powerful Solothurn patrician Johann Viktor von Besenval had Waldegg House built as his summer residence between 1682 and 1686. With the manor manor house and it’s avenues extending far into the landscape and the gardens, Besenval created a Baroque “Gesamtkunstwerk” what is now considered a cultural heritage of national importance.
On this guided tour, you will discover the magnificently furnished rooms of Waldegg House and hear exciting stories about the castle’s former residents and their relationships with the French kings.
